Business roles concept in SAP CRM Web UI
Different employees are responsible to carry out different tasks and need to see only the content relevant to their role. Example- a sales person does not need to see contents of a service person's role when they login to WeB UI.
In SAP CRM, this is accomplished by assigning each employee with a business role. There are 4 primary roles defined by the system- Sales professional, Marketing professional, Service professional and IC agent. We can also create new roles as needed by the organizational requirement.
A user can be assigned more than one role if needed.
How to access all business roles in test environment
SAP Easy access> SU01> enter the user name and select change option from the top menu bar> go to parameters tab and type parameter id as crm_ui_profile> enter parameter value as * to access all roles in test mode.
Now if you login to web UI with your user Id, you will be able to see all the roles available in the system and you can choose the one that you would like to test- for example, marketing professional.
How to create a new business role
SPRO> IMG> CRM> UI framework> Business roles> Define business role and from the next screen, select an existing role and click "copy". Give appropriate name to the new business role and description and SAVE.
A new role has been created (which is a copy of the existing role) and hence now change the NAV bar profile to change the navigation bar associated to this business role. Now to check if this is working properly, login to Wen UI using this role and test it.
Assign a user to business role
Unless we assign a user to a role, they are unable to login to web UI and see the content pertaining to their role. This can be done in one of the three ways.
Through organizational assignment OR directly assign business role as a value to the profile crm_ui_profile in parameter tab of the user in transaction SU01 OR assigning user directly to authorization profile
Role assignment to a position in organizational model
PPOCA_CRM> select the organization unit> expand and select the position to which you want to assign this role> From top meny bar, select "go to"> detailed object> enhanced object description> select info type "business role" and select "create"> Select desired business role and SAVE. The role has been assigned to this position.
Now we need to assign a user (id) to this position. Right click on user> assign> choose user> SAVE.
User has been assigned to this role and now when that user login to web UI with their user id, the role assigned will be automatically loaded on their screen.
